Fred’s Arm… Innovative or Weird? You Decide!

Original Post: Tattoo as an Advertising Media Space
By Ivan Raszl | April 17, 2012

So now it’s time for any brand who dares to take a chance to go down in history and become the first company in the world to advertise on Fred’s arm. Are you interested? All you need is to bid on eBay. The highest bidder will win a month on Fred’s arm to advertise whatever he wants. The bid starts with €1 and you have until April 26th to participate.

My Quick Take:
You’ll have to see this to believe it.

Fred, who works at the ad agency Leo Burnett Madrid, always wanted a tattoo but never knew what he wanted to permanently display on his body. He finally decided to get a QR code in order to show any content he wanted. His ad agency decided it was a great opportunity to capitalize on this new “media space,” and they opened up this space to bidding. The company with the highest bid gets to be the first business to advertise on Fred’s arm. The website says the bidding was to close on April 29th, but there’s still no word yet about the highest bidder… and it looks like the bidding is still up and running! Hmm…

This is bringing a whole new meaning to the term “social media.” Is Fred starting a new advertising trend, or does the innovation begin and end with him?

Would you want to advertise on Fred’s arm? What are the advantages/disadvantages to doing so?
