Original Post: Do You Have an Image Problem?

“Here’s the problem with social media: It’s turned everyone into his (or her) own personal PR agent.”
My Quick Take:
I don’t think this is the whole problem… I think the problem is that sometimes, people don’t take their “personal PR” position seriously. This article is a great reminder that even the seemingly unimportant things, like choosing your profile picture across social media platforms, has huge implications for you as a business person. As with everything, if you are attempting to “brand” yourself on the internet, then every decision from your profile picture to your personal tweets puts a specific message out there about who you are and what you do.
So first, figure out what sort of “brand” you want to make for yourself on the internet. ONLY THEN are you ready to set up your Facebook/Twitter/Linkedin/etc accounts.
How have you seen great personal branding or poor personal branding affect a person’s business? How have you made your decisions about what to put “out there” on the internet?
